About a week ago we stopped by Salt Wine Bar and talked to William Tavares about his new venture, Fishbar, which is going in where Todo used to be. The concept is to bring fresh fish to the Ossington area, from cooked seafood and Po’boy sandwiches for lunch, to fresh Oysters and ceviches.
Fishbar is a partnership between William and Jose. Jose has been a long-time Ossington merchant, having moved his vintage clothing store, Vintage One, from Kensington about 10 years ago. He operated Todo for the last few years, which struggled to find the right formula for the street. This new venture has already generated a lot of excitement and looks like a formula that’s going to work.
We had a tour of the construction site and things are definitely changing quickly. The fixtures from Todo are gone and the space looks like it’s going to turn into something nice. There’s even a room downstairs which can be used for private parties.
According to the above recent tweet from SaltWineBar, they are hoping to be open for December 15th. We’re looking forward to it!
Not impressed. Serving Beluga caviar? Does this guy know it is an endangered species? Not to mention the black tiger shrimp. Is this guy paying any attention? People don’t want to eat this non sustainable type of seafood anymore. The place won’t last long with this attitude…….
I heard this place was AMAIXZING. “Octopus” Martinis. Deep fried lightly salted smelt. Tangy rhubarb desserts. etc etc Taking a date very soon.
