Another Round of Cannabis Companies Plant Seeds on Ossington

Ossington is again home to pot companies. Last year Ossington experienced a rotating crew of dispensaries, which didn’t last. Now, as official legalization is just over a month away!, licensed operators are establishing roots on Ossington. Here’s more info on two new cannabis companies on Ossington.

San Rafael 71 is a recreational cannabis brand launching a pop-up on Ossington this weekend. The pop-up at 9 Ossington Avenue starts today and runs from September 14th – 30th. San Rafael 71 owner MedReleaf, is a licensed Canadian producer of cannabis products recently acquired by industry biggie Aurora Cannabis. The brand is inspired by California in 1971, when a group of smokers sought out wild pot plants at 4:20 in the afternoon.

The San Rafael pop-up includes live music, art, games and a vintage record shop. Last night’s kick-off party featured a comedian, 4-20 beer brewed in collaboration with Amsterdam Brewery, and DJ Skratch Bastid.

9 Ossington is newly decorated for the San Rafael 71 pop-up. Upstairs is decked out in 70s rec room style, and downstairs is where they will host the live music events. Stay tuned for more details on performers and times.

In the alley behind the coin laundry and Rotate This, just north of Home Hardware’s warehouse, is the large site formerly home to the Ontario Bread Factory. Now it’s the site of Supreme Cannabis Company’s offices.

Currently, the building, 178R Ossington, looks like it’s undergoing construction. There are numerous trucks and delivery vehicles there during the day, but it is an office space.

Supreme Cannabis is a publicly traded Canadian company and owner of medical cannabis grower 7ACRES. The company has supply agreements with a few provinces so expect them to grow into the large space in the alley behind Ossington and stay awhile.
