Events in Ossington Village this weekend include Canadian Music Week, Earth Day, and Record Store Day, signaling that spring is finally here. Here’s a roundup of weekend events for April 21-23.

Canadian Music Week

This week is Canadian Music Week in Toronto, and there are music showcases every night through the weekend at local venues The Garrison, The Painted Lady and The Dakota Tavern. Canadian Music Week features different bands every hour at each bar. To go see all the music at the bar that night, door charge starts at $10. Bands from Canada and all over the world are playing. Check the website for schedules.

Earth Day 2017

This Saturday, April 22nd is Earth Day and locally, you can celebrate and do good for the environment.

Academy of Lions and The Grow Op #LETITGROWTO

Crossfit gym and community centre Academy of Lions encourages us to form teams and work out and help out on Earth Day. Workout from 8a-9am at the Academy at 64 Ossington, followed by tree planting atTrinity Bellwoods Park, and finally, a visit to The Grow Op for refreshments. Donations from the day will be given to the World Wildlife Fund.

Saturday from 11am – 3pm, join the Friends of Trinity Bellwoods as they work on various projects in the park, and offer fun events for kids. Events at the park on Saturday include:

  • Park clean up
  • Planting in the greenhouse
  • Pop-up adventure playground for the kids – right near the children’s playground


Record Store Day

Music lovers enjoy Record Store Day, the annual day with special record releases, which falls on Saturday, April 22nd. One of Toronto’s biggest and best record stores, Rotate This, is on Ossington, so expect long line ups this Saturday at 186 Ossington.  Rotate This usually stocks all the major releases, so there will be crowds.
