Hawker Bar, an Ossington favorite for Singaporean street food, is closing. The restaurant faced opposition when they tried to open 6 years ago from neighbors who thought street food meant customers would be on the street all night long, but prevailed to become a popular spot. Hawker became so busy that when they couldn’t expand to a backyard patio, the restaurant added a second floor for overflow and private events.
We will miss the laksa, the wings, the frozen shots, the chili crab and the people. The team behind Hawker Bar worked hard and provided delicious food for over 6 years with a positive vibe. We don’t know what will take over the space at 164 Ossington Avenue, but it will be hard to replace Hawker Bar.
According to their social media post, Hawker Bar’s last night of service will be Sunday, April 29, so make sure to visit before it’s too late!
