Toronto’s Indie Week is back for it’s 15th year this week, and beginning November 7th, Indie Week comes to Ossington Village.
About Indie Week Toronto
Canada’s Indie Week is a week-long Music Festival and Conference in Toronto from November 7-14, 2017. Indie Week supports emerging and upcoming artists with over 250 acts performing from Canada and beyond. A different act performs each hour, so you can move between venues or stay at the same venue to see multiple performances each night.
Indie Week Ossington Village
You can see many Indie Week artists perform at venues in Ossington Village! Participating local bars offer multiple nights of Indie Week shows. Here’s an intro to Indie Week Ossington Village.
The Dakota Tavern, 249 Ossington. Wednesday – Saturday
Each night during the festival, The Dakota Tavern hosts a different showcase of indie bands and performers. These musical acts are among some of the best performers in Toronto. Take Jerry Leger, playing Saturday night at The Dakota. The Toronto musician’s latest album was on the longer list for Canada’s 2017 Polaris Prize and Leger’s live shows are acclaimed. The Dakota Tavern is known for it’s country rock music most days, and most of the Indie Week performers will likely fall into that category.
The Garrison, 1197 Dundas West. Thursday – Saturday
Dundas West’s ultimate indie music venue embraces Indie Week with shows Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. At The Garrison, you’ll be able to see local kids band Kingdom of Birds. These talents were supposed to play at the cancelled Ossington Village Alleyway Party, so check out the next generation of Toronto music at The Garrison on Friday night.
The Painted Lady, 218 Ossington. Wednesday – Saturday
On top of rocking showcases for 3 nights straight, The Painted Lady hosts an Indie Week semifinal night on Saturday night. Indie Week has an awards show on Sunday to end the festival, and the semifinals are when the judges choose the winners.
Indie Week tickets range from $8-$10 in advance for each show, a little higher at the door, or $60 for full festival access. Get some rest now, because participating bars are open until 4am for Indie Week.
