This month brings a lot of restaurant activity to the Ossington Village neighborhood. We have some new Ossington restaurant updates, including just opened and soon to open places to eat.
Bar Sybanne
Bar Sybanne, the new Mediterranean tapas restaurant from Chef Howard Dubrovsky has replaced LAS at 229 Ossington. They opened quietly last week, and this week they are open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday, kicking off with a Tuesday night 1/2 price weekly wine deal beginning tonight. The menu looks delicious and the space looks lovely. We’ll let you know once we’ve had a chance to sample the food ourselves!
Schmaltz Appetizing
As first reported by Now Toronto, Anthony Rose is expanding his food empire to Dundas and Ossington. The prime space at the southwest corner of the intersection, long occupied by pharmacies is transforming into a new location of Schmaltz Appetizing. Expect take out and dine in options for the bagel sandwich and smoked fish spot at 224 Ossington. Currently, staff are at work cleaning and renovating the interior, and what we’ve seen so far is a transformation from the Main Drug Mart previously in that space.
Roywoods
It looks like Cityplace jerk chicken favorite Roywoods may finally be ready to open their newest location at 198 Ossington. The signs have been up since April, and obviously some work has been going on behind the paper-covered windows, because some new signs have popped up recently. One sign is looking for staff, so if you are a cook or server apply via the email on the photo, and the other is a liquor license application. We’ll keep you posted!
Dundas General Re-opening – with alcohol
It’s been open for several months, but The Dundas General just got their liquor license. This is something they want to celebrate – with the neighbors. So stop in to the shop/café this Saturday for what they’re calling The Launch Party 2.0 and they will be serving.
As always, check our calendar for local events.
After these new restaurants open, we’ve almost run out of new cuisines to add to the complexity of restaurant options in Ossington Village. And no one here is complaining! Bon appetít everyone!
