Boss Lady Mondays is a relatively new monthly series in Ossington Village.
About Boss Lady Mondays
Boss Lady Mondays is a networking and lecture series for anyone in Toronto who identifies as a woman. This series is held every month on the last Monday of the month at Ossington’s own The Painted Lady.
Speaker Series
With a different set of speakers each month, Boss Lady Monday is a great opportunity to connect with and learn from other women.
Two different speakers talk each month, so the topics will change. I just attended my first Boss Lady Monday event, with two speakers of indigenous heritage and artistic leanings, and got inspiration and knowledge from both of their talks. I also met very friendly and interesting women of different pursuits in the audience, so it was a good night for me!
The Vibe
Are you someone who gets nervous about networking and going to a new event? You are not alone! Some people came with friends, or met them there, but I, and other women, went alone. The organizers include the owners and members of the staff at The Painted Lady and all are friendly and welcoming. They also create a warm vibe for Boss Lady Mondays – like being at your girlfriend’s place – with plates of cheese and crackers on the bar for sharing.
The Audience
The other attendees are there to network and learn, so don’t be surprised if people introduce themselves to you! It does happen here in Toronto, and at The Painted Lady for Boss Lady Mondays, it’s the norm, and it’s fun.
When I attended, there were at least 30 women there, of all ages. There was a big group of 7 or 8 20-somethings, and women of all ages beyond.
For the speakers, I think we were a good audience. Everyone sat quietly and listened to the women talk, applauded a few times and laughed when appropriate. It was easy to hear everything they had to say with such a respectful crowd.
More Details
Follow the Boss Lady Mondays social accounts to stay in the loop. Your next opportunity to attend is April 24th. There is already a Facebook event. As I mentioned, you’ll get to hear different speakers each time you attend, and it’s free entry. Try it once and when you like it, keep returning.
The Painted Lady is at 218 Ossington and the doors open at 5PM. Speakers start approximately 6PM, followed by Q&A and mingling. The whole event runs until about 7:30pm.
For those who haven’t been to The Painted Lady, it’s an intimate venue with a small stage and cafe tables for viewing the speakers. Here are some photos from the latest Boss Lady Monday:
