Vector Festival returns to Toronto and InterAccess on Ossington this week with it’s 5th edition. The new media festival showcases experiments in digital gaming and interactive and experimental new media. This year is the 5th year, which is a milestone for an art festival! It begins tomorrow, July 13th, and runs through this weekend until Sunday, July 16th. Vector Festival events range from exhibits and lectures to performances, screenings and workshops. Vector takes over several venues, including Artscape Youngplace on Shaw, and the Vector Festival headquarters at InterAccess at 9 Ossington Avenue, so you will have ample opportunities to experience it!
Local Vector Festival Highlights
There is a lot going on at Vector Festival in the next few days/this weekend, which is why we’ve highlighted some events in Ossington Village.
Launch Party, July 13 at InterAccess, 7-10pm
July 13 is the first day of Vector Festival, starting with an opening reception at InterAccess. Celebrate the launch of the 5th Vector Festival and see the opening exhibition, Pattern Recognition. The exhibit features virtual reality, video, and interactive installations exploring humans and machines and it is free, so drop in and explore!
Signal/Space: Performance, July 15 at Artscape Youngplace, 8-11pm
This Saturday night you can check out Vector’s merging of music and technology at this showcase at Artscape Youngplace. For $15, you’ll experience three different performances from NYC and Toronto artists. The audio-visual shows feature a variety of technology and should be interesting and entertaining.
Performer’s Panel, July 16 at InterAccess, 2-4pm
Here’s your chance to listen to the performers talk about the convergence of games, performance and computation. This is a free panel discussion at InterAccess on Sunday afternoon, so if you’re in the area, pop by and listen and learn from the artists themselves.
As always, refer to our calendar for these and all local events. Vector’s full schedule is online.
