Christmas is coming early to Ossington: at least in terms of restaurant openings. Fast on the heels of Rock Lobster, Oddseoul has opened at 90 Ossington Avenue.
The restaurant has been in the works for a while, and has been in soft opening mode all week. This weekend we stopped in to Oddseoul to sample the food and drink and hang out and enjoy the experience.
The Han brothers behind the restaurant have already proven themselves in the St. Lawrence Market neighborhood with Swish by Han. They describe Oddseoul as more casual and suited to a bar crowd, but the food doesn’t suffer for it. Some of the dishes we tried include mackerel, shrimp and the pork belly and shrimp ssam. Delicious!
It’s a laid back spot, styled with lots of wood and furnished with a bar in front and two small tables and a few long tables for sharing in the back. Both the bar and food menus hang on the wall on fast-food-restaurant-style menu boards. It’s a casual place for some drinks, good food, and some old school hip hop on the sound system. The kitchen stays open late. Plans are to open for breakfast and continue to stay open late.
I usually never leave comments, but this place is definitely worth it!! Excellent food, friendly staff, great company! Everything we ordered was amazing, pork shoulder platter, wings, loosey, scallion salad, mackerel, tempura chicken with deviled eggs.
