A Restaurant Called Roy Woods May Be Coming to 198 Ossington
198 Ossington is covered with posters promoting a new restaurant which may be opening soon called Roy Woods.
198 Ossington
198 Ossington is a commercial space on the west side of Ossington, a block and a half south of Dundas. Last occupied by The Ossington Dispensary, which opened in April 2016, the previous long-term tenant of 198 Ossington was Portugal Drapery and Textiles. Since the dispensary’s closure in December of last year, the space north of Telegramme Prints has been empty.
A quick peek into the space today shows there’s some furniture inside but it doesn’t look like there’s any activity, certainly no renovations. And renovations would be needed to convert the retailer into a restaurant.

The exterior of 198 Ossington is papered with signs proclaiming a new restaurant opening soon.
Roy Woods Resto and Bake
We have no idea what Roy Woods Resto and Bake is! Is this a fun hoax referring to the previous tenant with the use of the word “bake”? Elaborate graffiti art? Or maybe a new restaurant coming to Ossington?
Online searches are no help. There is already a Roywoods restaurant in Toronto, a jerk chicken joint in City Place, but the name is one word in that case and graphics are completely different so this seems unlikely.
Another Roy Woods is a young Canadian rapper who replaces the S with a dollar sign (Roy Wood$), but that road leads nowhere.
If Roy Woods 198 Ossington is an upcoming restaurant, we’ll let you know when we find out! Until then, post a comment if you have any information to share about these posters or what’s happening at 198 Ossington.
