Since the closing of Central Convenience on Dundas we have noticed some work going on within. When we saw someone actually doing work outside of the building, we had to ask what was going in there. The answer? The Lakeview Restaurant next door, at 1132 Dundas St West, is opening a “Storehouse.” It will still have grocery items, but they also plan to stock some branded merchandise for the Lakeview. Makes sense. The Lakeview is a popular spot, and is often used as a film location, so why not capitalize on that with some t-shirts and mugs? We’re happy they’ll be back to selling groceries, as we miss our “hipster convenience store.”
Our guess is it will open soon. The threshold is tiled “2010” and as that isn’t the address, it signals they want to establish themselves before the year is out.
That store wasn’t called “City Store Grocery”, that one’s a couple doors in the other direction and is (as far as I know) still open. It was called “Central Convenience”.
