NXNE Clubland At Ossington VIllage Venues
Toronto’s NXNE festival tweaks itself every year, but at least this year NXNE is back on Ossington. This year’s Clubland series, with curated nights at different bars across the city, takes place at Ossington Village venues The Garrison, The Dakota Tavern and the brand new venue SoSo Food Club.
The structure changed a few years ago but didn’t succeed when they created a standard location specific weekend music festival out at the portlands. This year, organizers are throwing a weekend long party at Yonge Dundas Square, with a mix of free and paid performances, plus the Clubland Series.
Clubland curated nights has an individual local performer choosing the acts for that venue. Fans of these artists can discover who they enjoy and recommend, and potentially find new musicians to follow. Except in the case of Sask Music, which appears to be a collective or label of Saskatoon performers, so call it a Saskatoon music night.
NXNE Clubland 2018 is in Toronto, and Ossington Village, from June 10th-16th.
Clubland Nights at The Dakota Tavern
The Dakota Tavern is offering curated nights from June 11th – 14th. Curators here are Terra Lightfoot, July Talk’s Peter Dreimanis, Sask Music and The Elwins.
NXNE Clubland at The Garrison
The Garrison features curated nights by Ralph, Leah Fay of July Talk, K-os, A.Side x Secret Songs. NXNE shows run Sunday and Wednesday through Friday nights. The Garrison is located at 1197 Dundas West.
SoSo Food Club and NXNE
Our neighborhood’s newest venue, SoSo Food Club, hosts Jayemkayem‘s curated night on Thursday, June 14th.
Wristbands for access to the entire Clubland series are on sale online for $33 with all fees included. Individual show prices have yet to be announced.
