Canadian Music Week

Canadian Music Week Ossington VillageCanadian Music Week is back next week and you can enjoy it in Ossington Village. Three local venues are hosting Canadian Music Week events.

About Canadian Music Week

Canadian Music Week is an annual music convention in its 36th year in Toronto. The week includes speakers and other events, and in our neighborhood there is a lot of live music. Starting May 7th and running through the 13th, CMW means 7 nights of music in downtown Toronto. Big name acts Sloan are headlining a free Yonge-Dundas Square show on May 12th, and other headliners at large venues include Liam Gallagher and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. We will give you insight into what you can see and hear around Ossington and Dundas.

Canadian Music Week in Ossington Village

Three local venues will host Canadian Music Week in Ossington Village.

The Dakota Tavern, 249 Ossington Ave

Our local country-rockabilly-bluegrass-rock bar will host CMW showcases every night from Tuesday through Saturday. Shows of note at The Dakota Tavern include Wolfe Island Music Showcase on Wednesday night. The lineup includes acts from the Wolfe Island records level, including Stephen Stanley from Lowest of the Low, and former Bourbon Tabernacle Choir frontman Hugh Christopher Brown, who was named one of the 10 must-see shows of CMW 2018.

The Garrison, 1197 Dundas Street West

The Garrison plays host to a wide range of music on a regular week, and their CMW shows are no different. CMW shows begin on Wednesday with U.S. indie trio Loma, and run through the weekend with a Pleasence Records showcase filling the back and front rooms (which is free!) on Friday, May 11th.Loma CMW Ossington Village
