Designated Survivor TV Shoot Takes Over the Neighborhood

Designated Survivor

U.S. TV show Designated Survivor is filming today in our neighborhood. Production is on Dovercourt, Queen West, Argyle and Foxley today. Multiple vans and trucks are parked all over the streets, and crew with walkies and earphones are everywhere as well.

Designated Survivor Filming in our Neighborhood

This afternoon, the Designated Survivor production is shooting at the Luna Café at the corner of Dovercourt and Argyle. The crew also seems to be using the church across the street – Santa Cruz Portuguese Catholic Church – maybe for meal breaks. Our neighborhood has long been a popular location site for American television shows and movies. This program adds another to the long list.

Designated Survivor TV Shoot

Designated Survivor stars Keifer Sutherland as a low-level cabinet member who becomes President after a disaster. The drama premiered on on ABC in the U.S. and CTV in Canada last Fall, and just returned for a second season. This is also it’s second season filming in Toronto. Previous Toronto locations include Downsview Studios and University between Queen and Dundas.

While today I only saw lots of crew members, and sources said Keifer wasn’t on set, you may get a glimpse of some other celebrities in the cast. Supporting cast includes Maggie Q, Kal Penn and Natasha McElhone, so maybe one of them will be on set or out later at one of the great Ossington restaurants.
