#22 in our series of Ossington Business Profiles is Anice Jewellery. This lovely little retail shop opened almost exactly two years ago at 102 Ossington and has been selling custom jewellery and teaching people to make jewellery ever since. In our business profile, we ask questions about their business and their thoughts on Ossington. Today we hear from the owner of Anice, Brittany Hopkins, in our Anice Jewellery Business Profile.
What is your business?
Anice Jewellery is a custom jewellery store with heart. We make everything in house and by hand, all with love and a touch of grandma’s inspiration (we are named after my grandmother). We specialize in one-of-a-kind pieces and turning old treasures into new love. Bring us your old jewellery and we’ll help you turn it into something new.
How is your business unique?
No other jewellery store does repairs or can make custom pieces on the spot like we do. We work with you every step of the way to design and create a unique piece right in front of your eyes!
How long have you been in business here?
We have been at this location since July 2015.
What drew you to be here on Ossington?
Ossington is a place that is alive at all times of day: from amazing food, to fitness, to clothing, to bars and nightlife: Ossington has something for everyone and we felt it was the perfect neighbourhood to grow with.
What changes have you seen on Ossington since your business has been here?
The sense of community has definitely heightened since we opened: from the opening of so many more shops to the new condo being built across the street from our store: Ossington is becoming such a special and buzzing neighbourhood and we are so happy to be a part of it!
How do you see your business and Ossington five years from now?
We are really focused right now on building our customer relationship program, increasing our workshops and expanding on all kinds of new designs and exciting projects! It has always been our goal to do what we do well and create lasting memories with our clients in the process. The goal for the next 5 years is to do what we do and do it so well. And of course continue to grow because of it!
What is your favorite spot on Ossington, other than your own, and why?
Where to begin?! The oysters at Boehmer are divine, the classes at RIDE Cycle Club and MISFIT Studios keep us sane outside of store hours and nothing says Ossington like an ice cream sandwich from Bang Bang! We love all the shops to be honest. All the business owners we have met have been awesome and we look forward to getting to know the neighbourhood more as it continues to grow.
Stop into 102 Ossington and browse the shop – when the weather’s nice, they often have displays set up on the front patio. Also, check out their schedule for upcoming workshops or schedule your own for a group of friends.
