Toronto Youth Theatre’s “A Chorus Line”

Tonig ht is opening night of Toronto Youth Theatre’s production of “A Chorus Line.” One of the most successful Broadway productions ever, this version stars talented young performers from the GTA and is running at the Lower Ossington Theatre tonight through Feb. 26.

We have written about the TYT before, and enjoyed one of their shows, so if you like watching talented singers, dancers and actors, go! Tickets are $25 for adult general admission and $35 for reserved seating, less for students, and are available online now.

Fundraiser for a Good Cause – Toronto Youth Theatre

The Toronto Youth Theatre is hosting a fund-raiser on Thursday, December 2 from 7-10PM at the Lower Ossington Theatre. We have covered the TYT before, and they do a good job in getting so many young people involved in the arts, through behind-the-scene work, performance, and attendance.

The Toronto Youth Theatre is a charity that provides young people the opportunity to work and learn in a theatre environment. They frequently produce shows at the Lower Ossington Theatre; we saw Hair last summer and loved it.

You might expect their fundraiser to involve performances, and you’d be correct! In fact, it’s called a “Cabaret and Holiday Party” and will include current and former TYT students singing, as well as “sneak peeks” at two upcoming shows: “Honk Jr.” and “A Chorus Line.” Tickets are $20 and the money will go towards funding their next productions.

The Toronto Youth Theatre is a non-profit registered charity that offers students the chance to work in a professional theatre environment. The students learn the fundamentals of theatre while creating a full theatrical production in a professional venue. Currently, the students are rehearsing and preparing for their upcoming production, Hair!, which they will produce at the Lower Ossington Theatre.

“Hair” runs from July 21-31: Wednesdays-Saturdays at 7:30PM and Saturdays at 2PM at the Lower Ossington Theatre, 100 Ossington Ave. You can buy tickets online or other ways.

The Lower Ossington Theatre is home to several stage companies, and is a popular venue for Toronto’s theatre festivals, like the annual summer Fringe Festival. Currently, the Toronto Youth Theatre is staging Rent at L.O.T.

This May, Stuart Knight is bringing a limited run of his show “I Decide” to L.O.T. This is a special engagement as it features all 5 of the original castmembers, as mentioned on his website. I DECIDE is a story about a man trying to find out who he is by finding out who he is not. By incorporating music, song, spoken word, beat box and film, this five-person cast will take you on a ride that you will not forget. Be prepared to laugh your ass off and even get a little choked up. Of course, at the end of the day you decide. These shows have been seen by over a million people. Come find out why.
