EDIT: Semolina Bakery NOT closed

By Melinda M, February 20, 2010 2:20 pm

UPDATE: Like Gordon Lightfoot, despite what they’re saying online, Semolina Bakery is not dead. Walked by this morning, the lights are on, the sign is outside, and customers were being served. Perhaps they are looking for someone to take-over their lease, but they haven’t fully closed yet.
It looks like we were correct and Semolina Bakery at 188 Ossington Ave has shut it’s doors for good. Seems they couldn’t compete with the countless other bakeries in the area.

When one door closes, another opens maybe? There has been lots of activity right next door to Semolina, but no word yet what is being built behind the papered windows.

Ossington on the Blogs

Metro Magazine has a piece today the burgening theatre scene based out of the Lower Ossington Theatre, just in time for the Fringe Festival, going on this week. The venue got the space in the Ossington strip early and have become one of the key centres of the city for theatre.

BlogTO wrote up on the night markets happening at Rolly’s Garage, an fascinating space just north of Argyle St. We actually stopped by and checked out the market over the weekend and they had a great selection of interesting products from local artists. And the cupcakes looked good!
